Default See Equiped Skills in Party Window

I just thought the other day how handy it would be if you could just roll your mouse over the other party members and have a drop down that just shows a smaller version of the skills they are using while in a town.

I thought this would be a good idea as it would save time and also add a little more strategy. That way if say a warrior has a lot of knock down skills equipped an ele could could equip say.. ash blast which blinds a knocked down foe ect.

It would make things more interesting and the strategy used more rewarding. Not to mention I partied with a monk and soon there after the only monk was like "I'm a smiter." (Which yeah we should have asked, our fault for assuming I guess.) However it wasted a lot of time.

So yeah I just think there would be many handy uses to being able to roll over a characters name in the party window to a have a mini version of their skill bar drop down.

1) Talk to your party before you go out.
2) I really don't want a bunch of power-tripping people scrutinizing my build and screaming at me for bringing XX instead of YY.

Anyone in the party could turn the display of their skills on and off. So, if you wanted to show someone your build, you could, but it wouldn't be on by default like you said above. That way, as you scroll down the party listing, you'll only see the skills of those players that have made their builds public knowledge.

/signed if you can hide it . It wont be much useful in pugs because most people will hide it...not wanting to get crap about your build, or if you have a "secret" build. But it will be extremely useful to coordinate skills with guildies.

Anything that makes sorting out the scrubs easier gets high marks in my book. Though honestly, asking someone what their bar is serves the same purpose, if they can't or won't respond in a timely fashion = cut.

Peace,

Well... hiding won't do much in this scenario i guess. Someone not showing his skillbar is equal to someone bringing crap skills into the game and would thus get the boot.
This suggestion has advantages and disadvantages. While it would have the ability to sort out some extrely bad players (echoed Chaos Storm in PVE *sigh*) it would however emphasize the Cookie Cutter Mentality and i can allready see lots of abuse on the horizon if this gets implemented.

After all:
Would sure be nice, but too much abuse coming from it.

Due to it encouraging cookie cutter mentality, this would be a very bad idea for PVE (I can imagine my monk not being allowed into PUGs without an energy gain skill, despite the fact I have no need for one whatsoever as I can manage my energy fine without it). But for PvP I feel that the person forming the party should know everyones skillbar and attriutes, so it would work there.

hide would be the same like a crappy build. "unhide your skills or kick"

I think that it'd be a bad thing to add because it would get rid of the element of trust and the ability of players to lie. People sometimes think they know what's best for me, and I don't always like to give in to other's suggestions.

For every good player capable of sorting out bad builds, there are 10 players who have the aptitude of a moldy cauliflower. Coordinated groups have no trouble figuring out each other's skills. Bad players are known for their desire to micromanage every other player. While it would be nice if we all had ensign leading our groups and pointing out the most efficient skills, we'd really end up with X leetskills X the W/mo telling my ele to bring flare and mending.

Great idea!

Anyone who doesn't wanna bring a decent build can join a party leader who doesn't care about his or her crappy skillbar.

For everyone else, this feature would rock hard.

Exactly. I agree on the fact that it's good to know how ppl play up front, to avoid frustration in a PvE mission, but you can ASK ppl first. No response is kick out of party. Experienced players only have to say: I'm a barrager, or I'm MM, SS, healer, prot, tank, stance, fire nuker, etc. and that is usually a clear way of knowing what he/she is talking about. Then you can ask to bring a certain skill, like winter in Hell's, or BR when a monk might need it.

I like people taking a look at my build. Why would I ever keep it secret. If I had a bad skill I would like to know why and change it.

If the leader is demanding that I bring crappy skills and cant justify why, Il leave.
if this had been in the game already I could have avoided that guy that brought qz even thou he was the only one in the team that found it usefull and it screwed with monk healing.
